Following reports of antisocial behaviour inside and outside Waterloo Park, Cllr Lee Huntbach has been liaising with police and Council officers since January to find ways to tackle it and deter offenders.
Whilst none of the behaviour has been violent or threatening, it has increased as lockdown has eased. Continued acts of vandalism prompted Lee to apply for the damaged camera in the park to be replaced. “As Councillors, we have no authority to order expensive equipment like this”, said Lee, “but I’m delighted that the Council have backed me and replaced the faulty camera. It can survey most of the park and will deter would be vandals and criminals. It covers all areas that have been vandalised as well as the bowling green which has suffered recent damage”
